"Elements" is an ongoing atmospheric landscape series where acrylic paint and ink is layered on prepared canvas without the use of paint brushes. Application involves pressing alternative materials including paper, plastic and foil directly onto the canvas to create a variety of textures. This tactile approach allows for greater intimacy with the paint and less control over the end effect. Layers are compounded wet-on-wet to "fracture" the paint and cause spontaneous forms to emerge.

I enjoy looking at changing patterns, such as those found in the sea or sky or fire. Worlds seem to shift and fade in the midst of movement. In these paintings I hope to freeze the moment, and all the intensity of it, as an emotional snapshot capturing an interaction of souls, a realm of feelings, an unfolding of universes.
