"Flowers for Ferguson"

The roses are made out of paper, which has been wrapped and interwoven, then treated with hardeners and hand-painted. "Flowers for Ferguson" is an installation that deals with the symbolism of life events and how we commemorate them. White roses are traditionally used both at funerals and weddings, and these are the social structures and occasions which unify us all. Racism can succumb to respect, as conflict is transformed through understanding, dialogue and art. This series seeks to amplify both the moment of loss and the moment of new life, despite the tragedy of discrimination and violence.
